Addicted 2 Gamez Closes

After a long, storied run with visits from the best players from all over the world, one of the pioneer local FGC locations will be closing its doors.

Jerry Domingo has announced that today marks the last day of operations for Addicted 2 Gamez at Vito Cruz, Manila.

Through the years, A2G has become a training ground for the top players from all over the Philippines like "Papable" Peter Chua, Andrew "Dru" Martinez, Kim Crisostomo, Angelo "Ehada.McArthur" Baldonado, Carlo Castilla, Charles Leyson, and a lot more. The place had so much talent inside it that it attracted players from all over the world to come over and test their mettle against our local powerhouses. Guys from Guam often visit A2G for casuals, and even the best Marvel player in the world today, Col. Filipino Champ, visited A2G on more than one occasion, as well as other top players like CJ Showstopper, Neo, Hiro and BIFU|WinRich.

We at Team PanCan would like to thank A2G for giving us years of fun, friendship, and hype. They may be gone right now, but knowing Jerry and Nelson, they, as well as A2G, will be back stronger than ever.

AK story picked up by Eventhubs after PVS: Genesys win

12-year old Tekken Tag Tournament 2 prodigy AK has left people awed and amazed, wondering how a young kid like him can win tournaments consistently in a huge Tekken scene in the Philippines at such a young age. Apparently, this sentiment has also been shared internationally.

After winning the TTT2 in the recently concluded Eventhubs, one of the most popular FGC news sites in the world, picked up the story and posted an article.

To view the article, go to http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/jan/23/12-year-old-tekken-tag-tournament-2-player-wins-genesys-2013-tournament-philippines/.

PinoyVersus: Genesys 2013 Results

True to the event title's meaning, PinoyVersus' Genesys event became a showcase of gamers who very well might be the future of the local FGC, and also of a player who keeps on winning consistently.

In the main event, Dru stays on top as he beats Ron Lim in convincing fashion in Grand Finals of Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v2012. Dru's Dictator literally dictated the pace of the match, keeping Ron's Adon at bay and Ron kept getting hit trying to get in, an occurrence that will keep on repeating throughout the entire match, which led to his downfall.

Bifuteki's Winrich meanwhile went back all the way from 5-1 to beat Papable Peter 10-8 in Grand Finals of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Resilience has been the key for WinRich, who lost on his very first match against Charles Leyson, but he kept on beating the competition until he sets himself up for a Grand Finals showdown with one of the best, if not the best, UMvC3 player right now. Peter seemed to be in complete control early on, but the prodigy who now resides in New York showed great maturity and kept calm and composed, and it worked to perfection, coming back to had his first lead at 7-6, and eventually winning the match 10-8.

In Tekken Tag Tournament 2, 12-year old child prodigy AK, proved to be too much for his older adversaries, as his mixed combination of aggression and discipline and grit became the winning formula in winning the tournament, besting HAPZ in the finals. Losing to Silver Heel in the early stages of the tournament, he beat Elite House's Nas, Mont, scav and Nakajima-Jed because getting his revenge by beating Silver Heel in Loser's Finals. In Grand Finals, AK kept coming back, eventually beating Hapz in the first set 3-2 to reset, then beating him again 3-2 to win.

All of the tournament winners took home a Plantronics Headset, as well as a Shirt made by Reset Clothing, and of course 70% of the pot money, while the runner-ups get 30% of the pot money.

Tutorial Video Made By ukyorulz; Gets posted on SRK

Local PSN Gamer ukyorulz has uploaded a Skullgirls combo/tutorial video featuring the team of Valentine, Fillia and Double. While Skullgirls wasn't able to enjoy the mainstream popularity Street Fighter, Marvel and Tekken currently have in the Philippines, this video shows that it managed to garner loyal fans of the game that play it on a very competitive level and still try to find amazing techs.

So amazing, in fact, that the popular fighting game website Shoryuken.com posted an article specifically for this video. This shows that we are able to not only mimic new techs done by popular players, but create our own as well, so this obviously is great publicity for our Local FGC. To view the article, click here.

You can watch the video below, or click here to go to the actual youtube vid.

Huge thanks to Matthew Gaw for sending this tip in.

A2G: Paulo vs Kim Results

Kim defeated Paulo in the main event at A2G: Paulo vs Kim, an event that featured a series of one-on-one first-to-ten Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 matches earlier at Addicted 2 Gamez in UMall Taft, with the main event being a first-to-fifteen.

After a competitive start which saw Paulo leading 2-1 after 3 matches, Kim kicked it up a notch and proceeded to win 5 straight which led to Paulo switching characters. The change wasn't enough as Paulo only won once then losing the next five again, which prompts him to try another lineup which also didn't work, thus going back to his original lineup towards the duration of the set. The end result was a convincing 15-5 victory in favor of Kim.

The undercards also put on a show as Cha breaks out midway and beats IFTP|TXO.PromilKid 10-5 after an intense back-and-forth games in the early part of the co-main event. Tonyo defeats AJ in convincing fashion 10-3, Keno puts on a late surge and beats Ran 10-5, Philip proved to be too much for Miro to handle, the former beating the latter 10-3, and a couple of close matches as Garrett defeats David 10-6, and Deo triumphs over Myk 10-6.
